Holy Mass at St. James

Holy Mass is celebrated every Sunday morning. It starts with Morning Prayer and is followed by the Holy Qurbono (Mass).

St. James Syriac Orthodox Church of New Jersey mostly consists of the SOCA (Syrian Orthodox Church of Antioch) members from South India (Kerala) who speak the Malayalam language. The liturgy in this church is primarily in the Malayalam language. Syriac and English languages are also used intermittently during the liturgy.

The primary language of our liturgy, reflecting our Kerala heritage and the mother tongue of our congregation.

Syriac

The ancient liturgical language of the Syrian Orthodox Church, used intermittently throughout the service.

English

English is also used intermittently during the liturgy to ensure all members can participate fully.
